The Theatre Camp is conducted through of a number of informal workshops that are interactive and lots of fun. The programme however is well structured with professionals of the various art forms directing the activities – Drama, Dance & Movement, Voice, Design and Pan are represented. At the end of the Camp a full fledged production is presented on the Queen’s Hall Stage. More recently the activities of the workshops have concentrated on specific Caribbean artists. The Young Peter Minshall 2004; Andre Tanker, 2005; Bob Marley 2006 and David Rudder 2007. In its fledgling years corporate bodies and voluntary organizations were approached to sponsor the young people (Soroptomists International still actively supports the camp) as it was a demanding undertaking to get parents to send their children to the Camp. When Queen’s Hall was closed for renovations the camp was located at the Woodbrook Youth Centre and St James Secondary School and the task was even harder. Now back at the renovated Queen’s Hall the camp is very popular, the demand far greater than the available spaces. Eighty young persons attended the three week camp in 2007 and many were turned back.
2007 Theatre Camp The Artistic Director - Noble Douglas. The Workshops start at 9 am and end at 3.15p.m. The camp will focus on the life and music of David Rudder End of Camp Production “De Madness wey we goin? we goin Rudders Ville
