Talk Tent and the Music Festival at the Hall

Welcome the 26th Biennial Music Festival
March 3rd - March 28th, 2004

One of the most exciting musical events to take place in T&T has been the Music Festival. Musical wanna bees boast that they performed at the MF on the Queen’s Hall stage, now after a three year lapse the festival is back at the Hall.

Music lovers owe a debt of gratitude to the Trinidad and Tobago Music Association the organizers of the Festival. They spear headed the movement to build a Concert Hall (Queen’s Hall). Since 1947, the association has hosted the biennial Music Festival.

The 26th Music Festival should be especially enjoyable for performers and audience. Unencumbered by noise and heat, our talented musicians can perform and compete with their peers.

It is hosted by the T&T Music Festival Association.

The Chairman is Dr. David Quamina and the co sponsors are bpTT & Scotia Bank.

The Secretary Manager of the Festival is Ms. Joslynne Sealey herself an accomplished singer. She told Spotlight that there has been tremendous support for the Festival, over 1700 musicians have entered from the North region alone, and that a number of new categories have been added to the programme.

The tickets are reasonably priced

Season Tickets (North) $250.00

Noble Douglas Dance Company tours USA
Choreographer, teacher and theatre exponent Noble Douglas, artistic director of the Patrons of Queen’s Hall, and three dancers of her company, Charlene Harris, Luanna Martin and Richard Lessey returned from a successful tour of the U.S.A. They were one of the three companies performing in the production of Black Burlesque (revisited), an international collaboration of three companies - Reggie Wilson’s Fist and Heel Performance Group, U.S.A., Black Umfolosi, Zimbabwe and Noble Douglas Dance Company of Trinidad and Tobago.

The collaborative effort developed over the past 10 years, the result is a performance rich in culture, song, and dance. Black Burlesque (revisited) embodies the interaction of popular cultural forms with religious and spiritual practices across three parts of the world, transforming traditions and rituals into dances, musical styles and entertainment.
