Godfrey’s Paradise
It is well known in the theatre
community that Ann Marie Sealy gave maximum support to
her brother Godfrey Sealy the playwright and Aids
activist, who died in April of this year. So it should
not come as a surprise to learn that she is the
compelling force behind the production of his last play,
Paradise Garage. A collaborative team of Raymond Choo
Kong, director, Dave Williams, choreographer and Eric
Barry, writer have put the production together with a
young enthusiastic cast.
Paradise Garage, is a fantasy, part
fiction and part musical that is set in a young people’s
club owned by a gay man and frequented by many men who
are questioning their sexuality. Although full of humour,
like many of Godfrey‘s plays, it deals with very serious
issues that confront young people today.
The play premieres at Queen’s Hall on
January 16th 2007 and runs to January 21st 2007.

AN HONOURABLE PERSON
The Patrons of Queen’s Hall and Spotlight join
the national community in mourning the passing of an honourable man,
Justice Noor Hassanali. In his quiet unassuming way he helped
the Patrons to grow and with his wife Zalayhar, lent the status of
his office to the cause of assisting Queen’s Hall, the State
theatre, and recognizing the performing artists of this country.
He assisted the Board of QH and the Patrons to develop the concept
of the President’s Honour Performance – an event which
served the twofold purpose of recognizing excellence in the arts and
raising much needed funds for the theatre.
CLASSY XMAS PRESENTS FOR A BLUE
For those of us who live in the real world the
drastic increase in the cost of things presents a challenge.
Spotlight would like to suggest two presents that will cost a
BLUE.
Give a friend Membership to Patrons of Queen’s Hall – contact
Shirley Kelsick, (623 7627) blue ($100) in hand and she will
send a laminated membership card to your friend in a Gift Card.

Denise Williams – the singer who performed at Queen’s Hall in
April this year and was warmly received. The CD presents
selected favourites of art songs, opera and spirituals with
piano and steel pan accompaniment.
