Strings, Song & Steel Liam Teague, pannist, joins lyric soprano Natalia Dopwell and violinist Oliver Lewis in the cast of STRINGS, SONG & STEEL. This production of fine music presented by the Classical Music Development Foundation of T & T will be held on Saturday June 16th and Sunday June 17th at the Queen's Hall. Glowing tributes have been received for the past four productions of CMDFTT. STRING, SONG & STEEL is a fusion of classical musicians of the old and new worlds – the piano, the violin and the steelpan with the human voice. Once more British violinist, Oliver Lewis, American pianist, Dr. Jeffrey Middleton and Trinidadian soprano, Natalia Dopwell will perform. Joining the cast of 'Strings, Song & Steel' in 2007, is Trinidad's celebrated pannist, Liam Teague. The artists have arranged a brilliantly conceived and exciting marriage of string, song and pan. Sometimes hailed as the "Paganini of the Steel pan” Liam Teague is a technically brilliant steelpan virtuoso and composer who performs with ensembles and orchestras around the world. He will premiere new works at the June concert. Oliver Lewis, who performed in the 2006 production of CMDFTT at Queen’s Hall, has since been signed to the Neurodisc Record Label and has released 'Deviations Project'; a popular item at Barnes and Noble stores. Natalia Dopwell needs no introduction to Trinidad audiences, she continues to develop her musical skills abroad while performing in many prestigious productions.

Oliver!
U.W.I. Festival Chorale, the same people who brought you Fiddler on the Roof in 2006, will present five performances only of the award winning Broadway musical comedy Oliver! at Queen’s Hall: from 28th June through July 1st 2007. Oliver! is the award winning musical based on the Charles Dickens classic Oliver Twist. In the hands of composer Lionel Bart, this dark subject matter about the maltreatment of children in Victorian England is translated to an almost sunny musical. Oliver is the story of a young boy living in a grim orphanage who simply yearns for more ‘food’. He is then sold into virtual slavery, but runs away to London and joins a gang of young thieves run by a “kindly” miser Fagin-- who adopts the young boy and adds him to his lovable rascals. Misadventure causes Oliver to be caught on his first outing as an apprentice robber, but all ends well when he meets the kindly Mr. Brownlow, which leads to a surprising happy climax. Featuring such classic songs as Consider Yourself; Food Glorious Food; As Long As He Needs Me; and I’d Do Anything, Oliver is portrayed by former calypso young monarch Allan Clelland-Goddard and the Artful Dodger by another former calypso monarch Dimitri Pollard – both making their debuts in musical theatre.
The production is once again directed by Louis Mc Williams; while Jessel Murray (pictured at left), is the music director and conductor. The team of Hazel Franco (choreographer); Kwynn Johnson (set designer); and Paulette Alfred (costume designer) all return to lend their special talents to the production. The National Sinfonia will once again provide the musical accompaniment.
